A Workers Compensation Research Institute study on lower-back pain and the timing of physical therapy could serve as a guideline for stakeholders around the country who are looking to improve claims outcomes, researchers said.
“Our evidence can’t be labeled as cause-and-effect, but there was a statistically consistent and strong association that’s not only scientifically consistent, but it makes common sense,” said Dr. Randy Lea, a senior research fellow at WCRI, orthopedic surgeon and a hospital chief medical officer in Columbus, Ohio.
