The Texas Division of Workers' Compensation will hold a public hearing Nov. 20 on proposed rules that would implement the state's expanded cancer presumption law.
The division also is accepting written comments through Nov. 25 on the rules, which specify the actions municipalities and their insurers must take when a firefighter files a cancer claim. Municipalities across the state have denied some claims in recent years, in part because of the wording of state law, which cities have said names only three types of cancers that are compensable.
