The California Assembly Appropriations Committee, on its first day back from the summer recess, passed two bills that would expand presumptions for public safety workers, along with a measure proposing several changes relating to medical provider networks.
The committee on Monday voted 13-0 to approve Senate Bill 542. The bill, by Sen. Henry Stern, D-Canoga Park, would create a presumption that post-traumatic stress disorder is compensable for police and firefighters. The presumption would apply retroactively to any claim filed or pending since the start of 2017.
