California workers enjoy greater workplace safety protections than workers in most other states, according to the nonprofit group Public Citizen.
There are currently 25 states authorized by the U.S. Occupational Safety and Health Administration to develop and implement their own workplace safety rules. State safety rules must be at least as stringent as the federal rules, but Public Citizen said California, Michigan, Oregon and Washington stand out as states that have exceeded the federal standards in a number of areas.
