Governor Signs Portland Firefighter Presumption Bill

Oregon Gov. Kate Brown enacted legislation giving Portland’s firefighters access to the statutory heart and lung presumption that applies to other firefighters in the state. Brown on Tuesday signed HB 2915, by Rep. Dacia Grayber, D-Tigard. The state House of Representatives voted 59-1 to pass the bill in April and the Senate voted 28-1 to pass it May 24. Oregon law presumes conditions including diseases of the lungs or respiratory tract, hypertension and cardiovascular renal disease are compensable for firefighters.
