Contractor to Pay $9k in Restitution for Operating Without Comp Coverage

A contractor convicted on charges of failing to secure workers’ compensation coverage was ordered to pay $9,000 in restitution, the New York State Inspector General’s Office announced. Leroy Nelson, owner of J.R.N. Construction, was also sentenced to three years of probation as a result of pleading guilty to the felony charge of attempted failure to secure compensation. Nelson reportedly submitted certified payroll documents to the state Labor Department that indicated his company employed six people on a rehabilitation project at the State University of New York campus in Albany...
