Friday Deadline Marks Pressure for Finance Committees to Pass or Nix Work Comp Bills

Senate and Assembly finance committees alike will rush to meet Friday’s deadline to move their bills through the legislative process. A handful of work comp bills are among them, each one opposed by Gov. Gavin Newsom's administration. The Senate Appropriations committee is scheduled to vote on AB 5, AB 528, AB 346 and AB 1400. The Assembly Appropriations Committee will vote on SB 537 and SB 416. AB 5, by Assemblywoman Lorena Gonzalez, D-San Diego, will focus on labor code disputes including workers’ compensation issues.
