Insys Therapeutics founder John N. Kapoor and four former Insys executives are on trial in Boston on charges that they led a nationwide conspiracy to bribe doctors to prescribe Subsys, a potent fentanyl spray, and defraud health care insurers.
The trial began Jan. 28 and jurors have thus far heard allegations that a former stripper- turned-sales director named Sunrise performed a lap dance for a physician at a Chicago nightclub as an encouragement for prescribing Subsys.
