The South Carolina Court of Appeals overturned a grant of summary judgment dismissing a lawsuit against an employer and its in-house nurses, alleging that they failed to provide adequate treatment to a worker with symptoms of a heart attack before she died.
Samel Ragin worked for Pilgrim’s Pride Corp. at a chicken processing plant. While at work in November 2017, Ragin went to the in-house nurses' station and reported chest pains and shortness of breath.
Ragin returned to work and was later discovered unconscious in the restroom. She was pronounced dead at the hospital.
