Thousands of additional drivers could join a class action lawsuit against Uber after a federal judge in San Francisco declared an arbitration clause unenforceable.
U.S. District Court Judge Edward Chen in September allowed the lawsuit, filed by drivers claiming they're employees of the ride-hailing firm and not independent contractors, to proceed as a class action suit. But his ruling excluded recently-employed Uber drivers, who signed contracts mandating arbitration of all disputes.
