Pizza Shop Owner to Serve Jail Time for Premium, Tax Evasion

The owner of a pizza restaurant in Soledad will serve 120 days in jail and pay more than $10,000 in fines after his conviction for payroll tax and workers' compensation premium fraud, the Monterey County District Attorney's Office said Tuesday. Osama Zawideh, 52, pleaded guilty on March 14 to two counts of making a material misrepresentation in order to obtain a lower workers’ compensation insurance premium, and one count of willfully failing to file payroll tax returns with intent to evade tax.
