TDI Keeps IRO Fees the Same in Formal Rule Proposal

After hearing from insurers who said the fees paid to independent medical-review organizations are already too high and from a provider who said they are far too low, the Texas Department of Insurance decided to leave the fee structure exactly as it is now.  In a formal rule proposal released Tuesday, the department proposes no changes to the two-tiered structure governing how much IROs can charge utilization review agents and payers.
