A Monterey County contractor was sentenced to 180 days in jail, five years of probation and ordered to pay more than $20,000 in fines after pleading guilty to charges of fraudulent use of a license and operating without insurance.
Jose Valdez, 41, pleaded guilty in September to charges that he used a business license number because he didn't have a contractor's license and did not have workers' compensation coverage for his workers.
