The California Senate concurred in amendments to a bill that would prohibit consideration of certain characteristics when apportioning permanent disability, allowing the measure to be delivered to Gov. Gavin Newsom.
At the same time, an Assembly bill that would allow some firefighters to receive salary continuation benefits in lieu of temporary disability was amended ahead of a final vote in the Senate.
The upper chamber on Friday voted 37-0 to give final approval to an amended version of SB 788, by Sen. Steven Bradford, D-Gardena.
SB 788 can now be presented to the governor.
