The Guam Legislature on Tuesday approved a bill that would increase weekly indemnity benefits some 340% by October 2021.
At the same time, lawmakers passed a second measure that would require the Pacific island territory's Workers’ Compensation Commission to allow civil penalties for employers that violate any workers’ compensation law.
Bill 200, by Sen. Regine Biscoe Lee, would provide the first increase in indemnity benefits in more than 30 years, according to the statement of legislative findings and intent.
