As states ramp up protections for front-line health care and public safety officers to combat the spread of COVID-19, also known as the coronavirus, Washington Gov. Jay Inslee announced the state Department of Labor & Industries will provide compensation benefits if these workers are ordered into quarantine.
Tim Church, public affairs manager for L&I, said epidemic-related coverage for testing and treatment was not previously available. But health care workers and first responders who are quarantined will be able to file claims for any time they miss.
