High Court Says Worker Can't Be Reimbursed in Full for Excessive Travel to Distant Pharmacy

The West Virginia Supreme Court ruled that a worker's 24 trips in just over two months, to fill her prescriptions from a pharmacy over 78 miles from her home, were excessive. Case: Burkhamer v. AT&T Corp., No. 13-0521, 09/29/2014, published. Facts: Carolyn S. Burkhamer worked for the AT&T Corp., as a telephone operator. She suffered injuries from an electric shock while at work in April 1992. At present, she takes nearly 30 different medications to treat conditions that are causally-related to her shock injury.
