The California Department of Insurance (DOI) and the Department of Industrial Relations (DIR) this week have answered the lawsuit against them Sacramento Superior Court by Mainstay Business Solutions, a tribally-affiliated company staffing company that is challenging the California Department of Insurance over jurisdictional authority to regulate its workers' compensation offerings.Late last year Mainstay was told by the DOI and DIR that their workers' compensation program violated California law and threatened to shut the business down, along with sanctions and penalties.
