Legislation that would prohibit incentivizing physicians to delay or deny medical treatment requests and give the California Division of Workers' Compensation authority to inspect utilization review contracts would cost $575,000 a year, according to a legislative analysis.
Senate Appropriations Committee consultant Robert Ingentio said in a write-up on Senate Bill 563 the increased auditing and legal workload would cost the DWC $600,000 in the first year, with annual ongoing costs of $575,000.
