Illinois business groups and insurance attorneys are urging Democratic Gov. J.B. Pritzker to veto a bill that would allow asbestos tort claims against employers after the workers' compensation statute of limitations has expired.
In a letter to the governor last week, Illinois State Chamber of Commerce President Todd Maisch said Senate Bill 1596 would cost employers significantly, would remove the predictability afforded by the current law and would prompt businesses to move to other states.
