Insurers Hoping for Time Limit on Physician Dispensing to Injured Workers

Insurers are asking the Wisconsin Workers' Compensation Advisory Council to follow the lead of Indiana and recommend legislation that would limit the amount of time that physicians can dispense medications to workers' compensation claimants. In a March 23 letter, a coalition of insurance groups said a study released by the Workers Compensation Research Institute in January showed that physicians are evading "cost-only" reimbursement systems.
