House Votes to Make Comp Commission a Special-Fund Agency Again

The Mississippi House of Representatives on Wednesday endorsed two bills that would once again make the state Workers' Compensation Commission a special-fund agency, mostly outside the reach of lawmakers who may be tempted to raid its reserves. By a vote of 115-3, the House passed HB 1251, which would remove the requirement that the commission be funded by the state's general fund.
