The Washington state Department of Labor and Industries assessed $2,050 in fines against a subcontractor working on the $3.2 billion Seattle tunnel project for violations that resulted in one worker being hospitalized with chipped vertebrae, a bruised kidney, broken ribs and a collapsed lung.
Four iron workers were injured Feb. 12 when the rebar wall they were working on detached and fell to the ground, L&I said in a statement announcing it was fining Central Steel Inc. for the accident.
