Hospital, Nursing Home Employees' Injuries Prompt OSHA Enforcement

The Occupational Safety and Health Administration announced that it would begin more enforcement of hospitals and nursing homes in regard to musculoskeletal disorders related to patient handling, bloodborne pathogens and workplace violence, according to a release from the administration.  The administration advised staff in a memo last week that all inspections of hospitals or nursing homes should include a review of the hazards.  According to the Bureau of Labor Statistics, 6.4 out of every 100 workers in hospitals and nursing homes report work-related injuries or illnesses, ...
