Amended Bill Proposes Tweaks to Classification Rules for Freelancers

Most freelance photographers and journalists would be exempted from California’s ABC test of employee status if they work under a contract and don’t replace an existing employer under a recently amended bill. Assemblywoman Lorena Gonzalez, D-San Diego, amended Assembly Bill 2257 on Tuesday to propose the changes in classifying freelance photographers and journalists.
