Heart Trouble Not Presumed to be COE for Investigator

An investigator for a racing board is not eligible for the special workers' compensation benefit afforded to police officers, a California court ruled. In California Racing Board v. WCAB (Snezek), C053595, 07/02/2007, the 3rd District Court of Appeal ruled that qualifying as a peace officer is not enough to warrant a presumption that heart trouble or pneumonia developed on the job.
