The Washington state Supreme Court has limited the scope of a 2003 voter-approved initiative that rolled back workplace ergonomic rules.
The court in an 8-1 ruling issued Thursday decided that a 2003 initiative repealed the state's workplace ergonomics rule, but didn't strip the Department of Labor & Industries of its authority to protect workers under the general statutes.
The justices said that Initiative 841 only repealed the specific ergonomics rules put forth by the Department of Labor & Industries in 2000.
