New York Mayor Michael Bloomberg created the World Trade Center Medical Working Group and appointed a World Trade Center health coordinator based upon recommendations from a February 2007 city report on health risks from exposure to the dust generated by the 9/11 terrorist attacks.
Bloomberg assigned the group of city officials, physicians, psychiatrists and forensic experts to work with outside experts to analyze clinical and research findings.
