An attorney for welding-rod manufacturers said Tuesday that his clients have won their first federal trial in a multidistrict ligitation involving thousands of welders who say that manganese fumes caused neurological damage.
The plantiffs, however, said that the case turned up industry documents that will be useful in other welding-rod cases planned for Ohio and other states.
A federal jury in Cleveland returned a verdict Tuesday for the defense, following a three-week trial in the U.S. District Court for the Northern District of Ohio, Eastern Division.
