North Carolina-based James River Group said Thursday that it showed $6.8 million in net income for the first quarter, though its workers' compensation line was unprofitable.
The overall earnings compared favorably to $4.6 million for the first quarter of 2005. The Chapel Hill insurer also saw 45% growth in gross written premiums, totaling $68.2 million in the most recent period.
