The Third Judicial Department of the Appellate Division of the New York Supreme Court held that a domestic partner is entitled to death benefits despite the detriment to the decedent's children. In Taylor v. AON Corp., No. 97644, 08/11/2005, Sarah Taylor's ex-husband (the decedent) was killed in the Sept. 11 attack on the World Trade Center.
