A New York physician who has practiced medicine for 26 years yesterday pleaded guilty to charges of third degree grand larceny and scheming to defraud, admitting in court that he had stolen from the Medicaid program, a Western New York health insurance plan and the New York State Insurance Fund (NYSIF).
Dr. Azhar Tahir, 52, pleaded guilty after his arraignment before Steuben County Court Judge Joseph Latham. He had been arrested earlier yesterday by investigators from the state Attorney General's Office.
