The U.S. Senate should look at what Texas did to deal effectively with the wave of asbestos litigation being filed on behalf of thousands of people with no symptoms of exposure, says a Lone Star state lawmaker and attorney.
Texas state Rep. Joseph M. Nixon of District 133 offered the Texas asbestos tort reform approved this year as a model for the legislative effort ongoing in Washington, D.C.
Texas lawmakers created "a fair and efficient path to trial for those who are sick, preserved the full rights of those who may get sick, and unclogged the courthouses in Texas," he wrote.
