A California couple whose separate workers' compensation claims cost insurers more than $1 million were sentenced to 31 days in county jail after pleading guilty to insurance fraud, the state Department of Insurance announced Monday.
Robert and Rosemary Bunch, both 56, were sentenced on July 28 in Kern County Superior Court after entering guilty pleas before scheduled jury trials. In addition to jail time, Robert Bunch was ordered to pay $58,000 in restitution and Rosemary Bunch was ordered to pay $48,000 in restitution. Both also must pay additional criminal fines of $4,000 each.
