The Salt Lake Tribune reports that efforts to privatize the Workers Compensation Fund of Utah (WCF) are all but off the table for this legislative session.SB 170, Bramble, R-Provo, would have disgorged state interests in the Fund in exchange for a $50 million payment. The proposal was challenged by Dane Leavitt who said that the amount was too little because the state could make three times as much by securitizing the Fund's assets and then selling stock on the open market.
