AUSTIN--The Texas AFL-CIO is calling on its members to urge Gov. Rick Perry to "follow the law" and appoint a director for the Office of Injured Employee Counsel.
In an e-mail to union members Tuesday, the Texas AFL-CIO noted that Perry has "so far refused to follow" the provisions in HB 7 which required appointment by Oct. 1.
"He has found time to appoint all the other major players in the system, but will not even fill the one position set aside for workers," the labor group stated.
