AUSTIN--The Texas AFL-CIO is calling on its members to urge Gov. Rick Perry to "follow the law" and appoint a director for the Office of Injured Employee Counsel. In an e-mail to union members Tuesday, the Texas AFL-CIO noted that Perry has "so far refused to follow" the provisions in HB 7 which required appointment by Oct. 1.
