Proposed Regs Would Limit Some Stop-Work Orders

Regulations proposed by the Florida Division of Workers' Compensation would go easier on contractors who are issued stop-work orders when caught misreporting premium or failing to cover employees with workers' compensation insurance. A provision in Senate Bill 2038, passed by the Legislature in 2004, states that stop-work ordered issued for non-compliance with workers' compensation laws "shall be effective upon all employer worksites in the state for which the employer is not in compliance."
