Proposed Regs Would Limit Some Stop-Work Orders

Regulations proposed by the Florida Division of Workers' Compensation would go easier on contractors who are issued stop-work orders when caught misreporting premium or failing to cover employees with workers' compensation insurance. A provision in Senate Bill 2038, passed by the Legislature in 2004, states that stop-work ordered issued for non-compliance with workers' compensation laws "shall be effective upon all employer worksites in the state for which the employer is not in compliance." In most cases, this means that stop work orders will apply to all of a non-complying employer's work...
