Gov. Eliot Spitzer signed New York's effort to reform its "broken" workers' compensation system into law Tuesday and issued a directive to the heads of three state agencies demanding a road map for obtaining reliable data by April 27.
Flanked by the state's leaders of labor, business and politics, Spitzer signed A 6163 and told reporters it is "a win for business, a win for labor and a win for every citizen of the state.
"Today, New York is reversing a trend that hampered business growth for years," Spitzer said. "And we are better protecting workers in the event of job-related injury."
