A U.S. District Court judge dealt a victory last week to major producers of opioids commonly prescribed to injured workers when it dismissed the city of Chicago’s claims against four of the five corporate entities named as defendants in a lawsuit.
Though they continue to face legal and regulatory challenges elsewhere, Endo Pharmaceuticals, Teva Pharmaceutical Industries, Actavis and Johnson & Johnson are all off the hook for claims from the city that they intentionally misrepresented the usefulness and risks of their opioid painkiller products.
