WCRI Finds Dearth of Services for Long-Term Opioid Users

Injured workers who use opioid painkillers for long periods often don’t receive recommended services to manage their use of the medications, according to a study from the Workers Compensation Research Institute. Two researchers presented the institute's findings, published in May, during a webinar on Thursday. The WCRI study examined patients who first began taking opioids during the first three months after their injury and continued to take them for at least a year after.
