Plastic Parts Maker Cited for Amputation Hazards, Energy Control

A Thomson plastics factory has been cited for putting its workers at risk of amputation and other dangers, the U.S. Occupational Safety and Health Administration announced on Monday. OSHA has proposed $54,000 in penalties for Thomson Plastics Inc. after it was cited for one repeated violation of not conducting annual inspections of its energy control program, and two serious violations. The inspection was spurred by a Jan. 22 incident when a worker was injured by a rotating fan on a cooling system.
