New York Gov. Kathy Hochul signed a bill that seeks to prohibit warehouse operators from imposing onerous quotas on their workers that could lead to workplace injuries.
Hochul on Wednesday signed Senate Bill 8922, by Sen. Jessica Ramos, D-Queens, establishing the Warehouse Worker Protection Act that requires employers to provide a written description of quotas. The bill additionally declares employees can’t be required to meet quotas if doing so prevents compliance with meal or rest breaks, or the use of bathroom facilities.
