A federal judge in Washington state ordered the U.S. Postal Service to pay $229,228 in damages to a safety specialist who was harassed after advising a colleague to report her workplace safety concerns to the U.S. Department of Labor's Occupational Safety and Health Administration.
After encouraging a coworker to call OSHA in 2008, the whistleblower was transferred, forced to work in an unheated storage room, demoted and subjected to openly antagonistic interviews. He was later issued a disciplinary letter and denied a promotion.
