Report: Agency Adopts New Mask Requirement

Monday, August 9, 2021 | 0

The Michigan Workers’ Disability Compensation Agency will require workers and visitors to resume wearing masks starting Monday, according to a report by a Fox affiliate in Grand Rapids.

The television station reports that the new rules are based on those from the state’s high court and require face coverings for all visitors regardless of vaccination status.

“We do not want to be in the situation where our hearing sites become ‘hot spots’ for COVID-19 transmission necessitating another closure of the sites,” the agency reportedly said in a news release.

The guidelines reportedly allow attorneys and witnesses to remove face coverings when speaking, so long as 6 feet of social distancing is maintained and other court attendees are wearing masks.

The agency in May announced that fully vaccinated people would not be required to wear masks starting July 12 as part of a return to “business as usual.”
