Split Supreme Court Upholds Finding That Cable Installers Were Misclassified

A divided Ohio Supreme Court upheld a determination that a cable installation provider misclassified its workers as independent contractors. Ugicom Enterprises Inc. is an Ohio corporation that contracts with Time Warner Cable to provide the outside installation of cable lines for TWC customers. Most of its work is done for residential customers. After TWC was absorbed by Charter Communications, it was rebranded as Spectrum Communications.
