WCRI Study Finds Significant Variation in Prices of Similar Medical Services

The Workers Compensation Research Institute released an updated version of a study comparing prices paid for medical services across 36 states and found significant variation in the costs of similar services. For example, prices paid for a similar set of professional services ranged from 29% below the median in Florida to 164% above the median in Wisconsin in 2021. The updated study explores payments for medical services from 2008 through 2021, including just over a year of services rendered during the pandemic.
