A study by a left-leaning nonprofit reportedly found that between 2.5% and 4% of injuries and illnesses serious enough to result in a workers’ compensation claim in California are caused by higher temperatures.
In addition to obvious heat-related injuries, the study claims additional injuries such as falls from height and accidents involving dangerous machines could be the result of poor cognitive performance and decisionmaking when temperatures are higher.
