Workers' compensation professionals in the Granite State have launched Kids' Chance of New Hampshire to provide scholarships for children of workers seriously injured or killed on the job.
“A major work-related injury creates an incredible financial hardship on an employee’s family, putting the children’s opportunities for higher education at risk,” said Sebastian Grasso, CEO of Wyndham Group, a case management company. “When I realized New Hampshire didn’t have a Kids’ Chance, I knew we needed to start one.”
Kids' Chance of America is a national charity organization that assists children of injured workers. Information on an eligible child is entered into the organization's website, and the state organization starts the scholarship process when the child turns 15 or 16, the group said.
The New Hampshire chapter named Stacey Foote, director of claims at MEMIC Indemnity, as the inaugural board president. Other board members are Dan Landers of AIM, Marian Mitchell of The Lawson Group, and Donna Daneke of Summit Packaging Systems.
