Self-insured employers and workers’ compensation carriers in Louisiana no longer face the prospect of having to provide medical treatment or wage-loss benefits to people who test positive for cannabis after suffering a workplace injury.
The House Committee on Labor and Industrial Relations last week voted 6-5 to pass HB 351 after stripping from the bill provisions that would have allowed those with valid medical cannabis recommendations to receive work comp benefits after testing positive for the drug.
