W. R. Berkley Corp. reported net income of $119 million for the first quarter of 2010, compared to a loss of $20 million for the first quarter of 2009. Operating income for the first quarter of 2010 was $112 million, compared to $117 million for the corresponding quarter of 2009, the Greenwich, Conn.-based carrier said.
